Overview

Do your roster files suffer from duplicate IDs, badly formatted fields, or other maladies? If so, the Edusoft Data Validator can help.

The Data Validator is a desktop application that helps you find problems in your roster files before you send them to Edusoft, reducing roster turn-around time and ensuring accurate data in the Edusoft system. As an added benefit, the Data Validator can also help you maintain clean data within your SIS.

Download & Installation

The Data Validator is a desktop Java application that is deployed via Java Web Start. To run the Data Validator, you need the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), version 1.4.2, which includes Java Web Start.

Install the Java Runtime Environment

To install Java:

  1. Click Install the Java Runtime Environment link above.

    2. A new window with a license agreement for Java Runtime Environment, version 1.4.2 appears.

  2. Accept the terms of the license agreement.

    3. A list of Java installations, categorized by platform, appears.

  3. Click Windows Installation, Multi-language, listed under Windows Platform.

    4. You are prompted "Do you want to run or save this file?"

  4. Click Run and follow the on-screen instructions
  5. Return to this page and click Refresh.

    6. A link to launch the Data Validator appears.

The Data Validator is a desktop Java application that is deployed via Java Web Start. Simply click the link below and the application will download and start.

Launch the Data Validator

To download and run the Data Validator:

  1. Click the Launch the Data Validator link above.

    2. A security warning dialog appears:



    This warning appears because the Data Validator requires your permission in order to create files on your hard drive.

  2. Click Start.

    3. You are prompted regarding Desktop Integration:



    If you choose Yes, an icon for the Validator will appear on your desktop and in your Start menu. We recommend that you opt for Desktop Integration, but if you prefer not to add an icon to your desktop you can always launch the Data Validator from www.edusoft.com/validator.

    The Data Validator runs.
