SCHOOL SERVICES OF CALIFORNIA AND EDUSOFT ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE TO HELP CALIFORNIA WITH NCLB

SAN FRANCISCO, Cal. (January 1, 2003) - School Services of California (SSC), the leading provider of management, governance and fiscal consulting services to school districts, has entered into a strategic alliance with Edusoft, a leading California educational technology provider to offer a uniquely powerful and cost effective assessment platform. In today’s challenging fiscal environment, SSC and Edusoft are combining their expertise to provide school districts with the tools and information they need to meet the new requirements from the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

"Given both the limited financial resources that will be available to our schools and new federal and state academic accountability mandates, we believe it is critical for district leaders to consider innovative and cost effective approaches to improve student achievement. Edusoft puts an incredibly powerful assessment management tool in the hands of districts to meet these growing challenges. Edusoft is clearly in a class all by itself," said Ron Bennett, SSC President and CEO.

"School Services has served as a trusted advisor for decades to countless districts on a number of issues, including accountability and assessment. We are thrilled to be working with such a respected organization. School Services’ unmatched expertise in helping districts successfully meet their financial and management objectives combined with Edusoft’s focus on data-driven instructional decisions makes working with this organization a very exciting opportunity," said Patrick Keegan, Edusoft Executive Vice President of Market Development and former Deputy Superintendent of California DOE.

Together, in today’s fiscal environment SSC and Edusoft are working to help districts meet the challenges of No Child Left Behind by providing:

• Data-driven diagnostic tools for teachers and administrators to create, manage, and analyze statewide, benchmark and classroom assessment data and pinpoint areas needing improvement on all the NCLB criteria

• Consulting expertise and workshops on the requirements of NCLB and advice to districts on how to comply with these mandates
